Join us as we travel west toward Sante Fe, NM, site of our basecamp for our summer hike-in adventure to N. Truchas Peak, via Trampas Lakes.  The word “truchas” means “trout”, possibly because the presence of mountain trout in the Trampas Lakes below its peak. Be sure to pack in a fishing pole to try your hand at landing some. Trampas Lakes, the location of our overnight stay before pushing for the summit is worth its weight in gold for the determined hiker.
N. Truchas Peak sits at just over 13,100′ and provides a view unlike many in NM to those who persevere to its summit. We will sleep under the stars at Trampas Lakes, then make the vertical push toward the top the next morning.
The plan is to acclimate to the elevation with some whitewater rafting before setting out on a memorable father-son journey into the wilderness.  Equipment is provided for lightweight packing in and out so it is not necessary to purchase all your own equipment.

    Camping Rental Totes include: Tent, Sleeping Bags, Sleeping Pads, Water Bottle, Backpack, Knife, Headlamp, Carrying Tote, and community cooking and hydration units. 

    There is no cost to using Sand to Stone's equipment for this trip.  We just need to know if you are planning to bring your own equipment for planning purposes.

    Choose Your Dad Team

    Dads are the heroes of camp by serving on one or more teams.  These teams help camp run efficiently and provide a visible form of discipleship for their son. Learn more about dad teams HERE.

    Available Ceremonies For Your Son

    At the age of 6 and up, Your son is eligible for the Life Verse Ceremony. For this ceremony, you choose a verse or passage from the bible that both speaks to how God has uniquely gifted your son, and can guide him from childhood onward. Click Here for more info.

    At the age of 8 and up, dads craft a sword prior to camp and present it to their sons during a covenant ceremony that marks the dads commitment to leading their son to manhood. Click Here for more info.

    At the age of 13, fathers help prepare their sons for adolescence through a study completed prior to the wilderness trip.  The son memorizes the basics tenants of the faith in preparation for the ceremony.  Click here for more information.

    Cancellation Policy

    Cancellations made 30-90 days before the trip will be refunded in full, minus a $10 refund fee. 
    Cancellations made 14-29 days before the trip will be refunded at 75% of purchase price, minus a $10 refund fee.
    Cancellations made between the day of and 13 days before the trip will be refunded at 50% the purchase price, minus a $10 refund fee.”
