Medical Team
Requirements for participation:
The head of the medical team is in charge in making decisions regarding first aid care. He is also in charge of carrying the medical first aid kit during outings away from camp. In the case that the head of chain of command is unavailable, 1st relief becomes the lead of the medical team and takes charge of medical first aid kit unless needed to go with the person being taken out of camp. 1st relief also takes on the role of making decisions regarding first aid care.
Head of medical team will travel at the front of the group during hiking outings and will have a walkie-talkie on and set to channel 7.
1st Relief is to travel at the end of the line during hiking outings and will have communication with the head of the medical team via a walkie-talkie on and set to channel 7.
Information regarding medical first aid on trips:
- Main medical kit is in the trailer and includes Epi-Pen and AED along with CPR equipment
- Hiking medical kit is in the Head medical team’s backpack
- Wilderness and Remote First Aid information is in the Medical Team Folder
- Emergency contacts including nearby medical facilities located in the Medical Team Folder
- Participant medical information is in the Medical Team Folder and should be made available if emergency medical personnel need it
