The Gents

Opening: The Weight of the Flag

By completing your Squire ceremony, you didn’t just recite a catechism, receive wise counsel from men, walk away with a flag and a charge, or simply enjoy a weekend in the wild—you crossed a threshold.

You’ve stepped out from the shadow of your father’s responsibility and started carrying your own weight. You were given a new designation. Like a new name, you’ve been given something that can’t be given back. But being a Gent isn’t a title you wear; it’s a path you walk.

There are four milestones ahead of you. They each individually reveal keys to doors of biblical masculinity you can choose to unlock. We don’t talk about them openly. We don’t post the details. They are earned, not given. Here is a glimpse of what waits for you in the dark.

Event I: The Breaking

(Truth & Idolatry)

The first step is about internal clearance. Every man carries anchors that hold him back—things he loves more than his Creator. You’re going to find yours. You’re going to give it a face. And then, in front of your brothers, you’re going to destroy it. You cannot build a legacy until you clear the rubble.

Event II: The Stand

(Purpose & Defense)

The world is loud, and it is full of lies. In your second milestone, you’ll learn that a man’s word is his weapon. You’ll be tested under the stars, forced to stand your ground when everyone else is trying to knock you down. You will find your voice, tell your story, and prove that you can defend the Truth even when you’re standing alone.

Event III: The Night Hunt

(Faith & Protection)

A man who cannot protect what he loves is just a spectator. For the third milestone, the woods become your arena. You will be dropped into the dark, alone. You will have to navigate, gear up, and fight through the shadows. But remember: at the end of the trail, the ultimate test is waiting for you—and they won’t make it easy.

Event IV: The Mark

(Legacy & Service)

The final step is the longest. It’s where you stop asking what the world can do for you and start deciding what you will leave behind. You and your peers will be tasked with a mission of your own choosing. You will decide how this ministry—and this world—will remember your name. This is where you stop being a student and start becoming a builder.

Ebenezers

Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the LORD has helped us.” (NIV) – 1 Samuel 7:12

An ebenezer is a “stone of help.” It serves as a reminder of where you’ve been, where you are, and how you got there. At the completion of each of your four milestones, you’ll receive an ebenezer. Once you have all four, you will have a complete picture of masculinity and a new picture of your future calling.

Summons

When a Gent event is scheduled, you will receive a summons. Don’t put it on a public calendar or share it with those outside of the Gent circle or your family. It is your invitation to prepare yourself for the next step in your pathway to manhood. You will be given loadout material you are in charge of completing before arrival. The work you put in will result in a more memorable experience.

Welcome to your proving ground.
